James Levine Named Conductor Laureate of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Conductor James Levine, whose 21-year tenure as music director of the Ravinia Festival was a watershed in its long and illustrious history, soon will return to the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with a newly created title: Conductor Laureate. Mr. Levine continues his role as Music Director Emeritus at The Metropolitan Opera.
