Elias Grandy: General Music Director of the Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra Heidelberg Joins Columbia Artists’ Roster
June 14, 2018 – Today, Columbia Artists announced that Elias Grandy, the emerging conductor who came to international attention following his prize-winning performance at the 2015 Georg Solti International Conductors’ Competition, has joined the company’s roster of conductors and music directors.

Grandy will be represented by Stefana Atlas, Senior Vice President of the Sheldon/Atlas Office at Columbia Artists.

Recognized for his artistry, energy, and musicianship, Grandy has been the General Music Director of the Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra Heidelberg since the 2015/2016 season, where he has worked to build the city’s reputation as one of the most exciting centers for theater and opera in Germany. Highlights of Grandy’s tenure in Heidelberg have included Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni, Wagner’s Die fliegende Höllander, Gounod’s Faust, Haas’s Morgen und Abend, and the world premiere of Johannes Kalitzke’s Pym. Grandy opens the company’s 2018/2019 season with Verdi’s Rigoletto, followed by the premiere of Peter Ruzicka’s Benjamin, and a new production of Janácek’s Katya Kabanova in May 2019. Before beginning his tenure in Heidelberg, Grandy was the Kapellmeister of the Staatstheater Darmstadt from 2012 to 2015.
In addition to his performances in Heidelberg, Grandy’s 2018/2019 season includes appearances throughout Germany with Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg, Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Hofer Symphoniker, Su¨dwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, and internationally with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
