“The [Mariinsky] Orchestra under musical director Valery Gergiev, moves as if with a single mind and always with purposeful passion.”

- The Times of London

GRAMMY® Award-winning Music Director Valery Gergiev leads the widely celebrated Mariinsky Orchestra through their twenty-third United States Tour. Hailed as “Russia’s musical crown jewel” (New York Times), the Mariinsky Orchestra was founded in the 18th century and enjoys a long and distinguished history as one of the oldest musical institutions in Russia.

Praised as “marvelous” by the Los Angeles Times, the Mariinsky Orchestra opens its tour at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Hall in Costa Mesa, California on Friday, October 20th, performing Debussy’s illustrious Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, and Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major with the “gripping and extraordinary” (The Washington Post) violinist Kristóf Baráti as soloist. Completing the program is Stravinsky’s enchanting ballet score The Firebird.
