Since his debut in Puccini’s Tosca in 1971, the Met Opera and James Levine have been uniquely connected in so many extraordinary ways. As Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera from 1976-2016, James Levine’s impact on the musical and artistic development of the Met is unparalleled. James Levine has conducted more than 2,500 performances of 85 different operas.

Returning to Europe in October, 2017, Mr. Levine conducted Mahler’s Third Symphony with Staatskapelle Berlin, which received praise from critics and audiences alike.
