Columbia Artists is seeking passionate candidates to join the Booking Department. The goal of the CA Booking Department is to secure engagements for its distinguished roster of vocalists, orchestras, theatrical and musical, commercial symphonic events and dance ensembles of all kinds in concert halls, performing arts centers, theatres and festivals throughout North America.

What we’re looking for:

As a member of the Booking Department at Columbia Artists, you'll play a critical role in administratively supporting Booking Agents while learning about the music and entertainment industry. We are looking for a BOOKING ASSISTANT who is passionate about the success of our artists and touring productions and excited to learn on the job. In this role, you will provide administrative support to our team of Booking Agents, scheduling appointments with contacts and engaging in detailed written communication with major presenters and clients. You will join a close-knit team and report directly to the Booking Director and President/CEO. Candidates must have a broad spectrum of knowledge and appreciation for the performing arts and classical music. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to engage in conversation and relay interest, passion and excitement for the roster of artists. Success will be defined through this individual’s ability to establish productive working relationships with Booking Agents by exhibiting outstanding written and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in live events/music booking and touring preferred.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Experience in an administrative assistant role at a booking/sales agency (preferably classical music), or performing arts/theatrical presentation & management company, and/or production preferred, as well as a Bachelor’s and/or a Master’s Degree relating to the field • Impeccable communication, organizational & prioritizing skills; the ability to effectively communicate complete, accurate and timely information throughout the booking process is critical • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, be assertive in dealings and show initiative and care in the work • Answer calls and relay messages to appropriate agent • Schedule phone appointments with presenters and contacts for assigned agent • Coordinate Business Travel and Itinerary arrangements & process expense reports • Generate correspondence with presenters for promotional mailings and follow-up conversations • Track bullet sheets for artists, new program information, ticket count reports, offer letters, etc. • Enter contract offers in timely fashion into internal database and initiate contracting process

When facing a complex challenge—especially from a client—you’re eager to find comprehensive solutions, develop strategic suggestions, and share advice, keeping an eye on the ultimate business goal


Salary commensurate with experience along with excellent benefits package including employer-contributed health and dental coverage, paid time off, Summer Fridays (close early Memorial Day – Labor Day), life insurance, employer-contributed 401(K) plan.

Our internships are a great way to jump-start your career and bring what you've learned in the classroom to life. The positions are designed to further your knowledge of the performing arts industry while offering practical experience with one of the most important and well established artist management companies in the world.

What we look for

• Individuals with a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the performing arts with the dedication necessary to succeed.

• We require our interns to either be currently enrolled or recently graduated (within the last year) from an accredited college or university with a focus on Music Business/Performing Arts.

• Individuals should be available for a minimum of 3 months at 15-20 hours per week (regular office hours btw 10am-6pm).

Things to consider

• Columbia Artists Internships are currently only available for college credit.

• There are no guarantees of permanent employment on completion of the internship period, however we view each intern as an investment and welcome interns to apply for any available vacancies.
